Beattown Alert! February 5th saw the release of "Amokkoma", the sophomore album by southeastern Austria's Hörspiel Crew. Almost all of the production is handled by their own musical mastermind Cle (who's real-life job is - guess! - playing soccer in Austria's first league), but Trishes managed to make one beat happen as well. Avid followers of the Beattown sound will recognize the instrumental to "Werdegang" from Every Town Is Beattown - combined with P.Tah's thoughtful reflections and Sue's soulful vocals, the track turns into a beautiful song. Happy 2006! 2005 has been our biggest year yet, with the unbelievable number of four records coming out. Sincere thanks go out to our friends and supporters worldwide - it wouldn't have been possible without you! New Beattown music is already in the making as we speak, and you'll be the first to hear about upcoming projects here. You see, one of many resolutions for this coming year is to bring you news updates more often, if maybe shorter. Another one is to get our music into all these mp3 shops out there finally, which should actually happen pretty soon. In other short news: The good people at Chicago's Ground Lift E-zine wrote a nice review of Unison's Sound Networks EP. And the third issue of Vienna's arts & lifestyle magazine Fleisch comes with a CD featuring - among others - the Trishes' "What You Do", which is of course available on Fly Beattown! too... Elsewhere Is Beattown, Too. There's plenty of places to hear Beattown music outside of our own two recent releases these days. For one, Trishes is featured on 2005's Battle Of The Year soundtrack record (see picture) with the mellow B-Boy piece "A Little Funk For Jimmy" - Smith that is. Since it's musical tribute to the late jazz organ player, you'll hear some Hammond licks on there for sure. In the meantime, Whizz kept himself busy overseeing the entire recording process for "VMBS", the debut album of Viennese rapper Confusiee, in his Thin.King.Kitchen studio. There's also three of his beats to be heard on that record, while Trishes contributed one. And, back on the soundtrack side of things, the latest DVD by Völkl Snowboards sports about a dozen tracks by T & W, some of them previously unheard of. You should be able to get that one for free at select 'board stores, while supplies last. Of course there's more happenings happening, but we'll tell you about those just in time. Until then, you can read two nice reviews of Fly Beattown!: One on Earfuzz, one of our favourite audioblogs out there, and the other by Ground Lift, a great online magazine out of Chicago covering Raregroove, HipHop and Beats in a true connaisseur fashion...
